Internal
Lending is
permitted for all titles.
External
Lending
is not permitted for : Periodicals,
References, Books of sources, Atlases,
Dictionaries, Encyclopedias, Guides, Calendars,
Books that are rare and not expected to
print or publish again, Single copies,
Books that are not indexed ( not yet sorted
), and thesis and dissertations. Photocopying
of the above nonborrowable items are allowed
except for some, to avoid wear and tear.
Categories
of Permitted External Lending:
A university student is allowed to borrow
3 book at a time.
A higher education student is allowed
to borrow 5 books at a time.
An employee has the right to borrow 3
book at a time.
Employee of the Department of Culture
& Information have the right to borrow
5 books at a time, unless they are in
the forbidden list.
Lending
Period:
A borrowed book must
be returned within a period of maximum
of 15 days to facilitate other borrowers.
Penalties: Upon delay, the borrower shall
be notified by phone. In case of further
delay, his card will be suspended for
a period equal to the delay.The period
is then doubled and if the delay exceed
6 months, then he will be barred from
borrowing.
In case of loss, the borrower pays three
times as much for the lost book or the
current market price, whichever is higher.
General
Rules:
Regarding totles with
a set of volumes, only two volume are
permitted to borrow at a time.
In case of loss of one volume, the borrower
will be liable to pay the price of the
set, as such titles are sold only as set
in the market.
Non-borrowable items can be borrowed with
special permission from the Librarian,
if found necessary.
In case of damage, borrower will be liable
to pay the damage or the price of the
book,whichever is applicable.
Borrowers are prohibited from scribbling
inside the books.
The borrower's card is personal and only
he is allowed to sign in the borrowing
card.
Membership
Rules:
Aborrower's card can
be obtained from the Library after submitting
two personal photographs and photocopy
of this passport.
Dhs.10/- shall be charged against issuancof
a borrower's card.
A deposit of Dhs.150/- ( avarage price
of a borrowable book ) shall be collected
from the new borrower. This amount is
refundable on cancellation of the card,
if no deduction is applicable againts
loss or damage.
The minimum period between the issuance
and cancellation of a card is three months.
As a rule, the replacement of a lost card
is possible only once and against a fee
of Dhs.10/
