Library
His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Muhammed Al-Qassimi inaugurated
Sharjah Library on 14th of November 1998, as part of Celebrations
as Sharjah being cultural capital of the Arab World. Sharjah
library established in 1968 at A frican Hall and then shifted
to Cultural center ( Cultural place) and then to the current
location.
Sharjah Library lies in Muailiah area close to university
city in Sharjah city with an area of 20,000 square meters
and can accommodate 549 people at a time. Its a public library
which opens its doors to all members of society from Saturday
to Thursday from 8.00 A.M. to 8.00 P.M. continuously except
Fridays and other official holidays. No conditions for entering
and make use of library resources.
The Sharjah library contains more than 3,00,000 volums with
future accommodation of one million volumes and other future
development plan.
The library offers photocopying facility for the valuable
reader. Library merely charges 25 fills / copy per (Black
& White) and 50 fills/copy per colored copy.
Internet service are offered in the library including separate
halls for men and women. It can accommodate 20 persons at
a time. The searcher can print the result of research which
can be carried out. Library charges nominal fee internet use
(5 Dirhams for 2 hours).
Library has three branches: Kalba Library, Khor Fakkan Library,
Deba Al Hisn Library.
